August Tech Tip - How to take care of your torsion bars
Torsion bars are a vital part of the performance of your race car. As with any of today’s racing components they won’t last forever, however if you take proper care of them they will last you substantially longer. Whenever you receive a new torsion bar we recommend you first mark the date and the corner of the car the bar will be used in. A small engraving tool works best. Although there is no magic number of races a torsion bar will last this will help you keep track of how old the bar is. Remember you can only use a torsion bar in opposite corners of the car (i.e.: RF to LR and RR to LF). Another thing that is often forgot always put a block under your race car when traveling. Sometimes the torsion bars will get more use going to and from the track than they actually will on the track. Be sure to grease your torsion bars each week. The water from the car wash will rust the bars almost instantly. We recommend using Red Line CV2 grease. It is waterproof synthetic grease that holds up well to the rigorous conditions of dirt track racing. If you have any further questions feel free to e-mail me garrett@mpdracing.com.
